Early Times Report

Jammu, Feb 19: In a suit filed by one Mohammad Akbar, whose orchard was damaged in cross-firing between security forces and terrorists, and in which court had passed a decree, principal sessions judge, Bhaderwah, Sanjeev Gupta has directed chief secretary to deposit the amount of compensation before March 18, 2016, failing which an order of attachment of his salary would be passed.
He observed that the decree amount of Rs 1,64,065 was passed in 1998, but despite the lapse of 16 years, the chief secretary had failed to deposit the amount. He took a serious note of it.
The court, after going through the facts of the case, directed the chief secretary to deposit Rs 1,64,065 with interest in this court.
The court directed that the amount be deposited on or before March 16, 2016, which was the next date of hearing.
"If the chief secretary fails to deposit the money, an order for attachment of his salary would be passed," the court ordered. (JNF)
