New industrial policy to be adopted within next 10 days: Ganai | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb19 : The Government is in final stages of formulating the new industrial Policy for the state and will notify the same soon shared Khurshid Ahmed Ganai, Advisor to Governor of J&K while addressing a Session on "Sustainable Infrastructure -a Key enabler" organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) J&K State Council alongside its annual Session 2015-16 here today. Ganai complimented CII for its well researched documents have always helped state government in policy for formulating policies. He said he took lot of help in formulating the policy last year. He mentioned that J&K does not have a great track record in PPP projects and said that each department is supposed to have a proper PPP policy in place. Ganai said that J&K does not need to look at reinventing new development models but try to emulate best practices of states with similar topography and may be places of Europe as well. He further added that state needs to develop sectors like tourism, food processing, agriculture, IT & Infrastructure. He mentioned that IT could be a big job creator for Jammu and Kashmir. Prior to this Navin Kumar Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary Finance said that there has been a debate regarding whether there should be concessions to the industry or efficient infrastructure for facilitation of business. While addressing the gathering Shreekant Somany, Chairman, CII Northern Region & Chairman & Managing Director Somany Cermacis Ltd said that Jammu & Kashmir has potential to excel in many sectors but state should look at providing efficient infrastructure. |
