'Thank you JNU' banners appear in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 19 : As anti-India activities at Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) triggered countrywide protests, security forces had to confront violent youth carrying posters of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and banners reading "Thank you JNU" in Srinagar.
Security forces today scuttled a march of youth carrying posters of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and banners reading messages like "Thank you, JNU" leading to clashes between youth an security forces post Friday Prayers near Jamia Masjid here. Terming their protest as a mark of expressing solidarity with JNU students, youth shouting slogans in support of JNU said that they tried to take out a march towards Nowhatta Chowk. However clashes erupted after security forces deployed in the area saw some youth carrying flags of Pakistan and terrorist faction ISIS, besides banners reading anti India slogans.
Police sources said that sensing possible attempts of raising anti
activities by a group of youth they stopped the march, triggering clashes in parts of down town area of city including Nowhatta ,Gojwara, and Saraf Kadal. Police Sources said that youth on run also pelted stones on security forces and security forces deployed in the area fired several tear-smoke shells to disperse youth, no one was injured in these clashes. As per details JNU controversy erupted after it surfaced that an event was held on February 10 in which banners were placed showing Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and noted militant of Kashmir who was also hanged in Tihar Jail namely Maqbool Bhat as "martyrs",
Besides alleged anti India slogans were allegedly shouted by students inside JNU Campus. Meanwhile at a time when as per reports Kashmiri students studying in Delhi have started returning home after complaining frequent questioning by Delhi Police post JNU controversy, parents of students want Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to intervene in the matter to put an end to the controversy.
