Police action on Daily Wagers unjustified, unacceptable: EJAC

JAMMU, Feb 19: Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) held its meeting in Jammu under the president ship of its State President Ab Qayoom Wani in which the issue of temporary employees, daily wagers, casual labours, seasonal workers, need basis and temporary employees working in centrally sponsored schemes was threadbare discussed and decided organizational will continue to extend full support for their just and genuine struggle.
Speaking on the occasion, Wani condemned the police action on the peaceful protest of daily wagers headed by Sajad Ahmad Parray and Satish Sharma on Feb 17 at Jammu and described police lathicharge and the arrest of employees unjustified and the intensions behind the lathicharge were to curb the genuine voice of the employees of the state."
"60000 daily wagers are our cadre and this is the matter of concern for every human being that our youth have been put in mental trauma by keeping their services unregularized and uncertainty about their future, he said adding, "which is a human issue but not a political issue."
"The people at the helm of affairs should frame a comprehensive and time bond policy for their regularization so that 60000 youths and their families will not suffer any more, he said.
Wani said that EJAC has already put the demand of temporary employees at priority of their agenda and a memorandum in this regard too has been submitted to Governor of J&K State for kind redressal.
Wani and other speakers again have appealed to Governor of J&K State that the issue of temporary employees needs to be decided by human heart and should be regularized
Meanwhile speakers also supported hunger strike of KGBV teachers and protest of temporary teachers. Leaders who spoke in the meeting were Farooq Ahmad Trali, Manzoor Ahmad Pampori, Amrik Singh, Ganesh Khajuria, Narinder Singh Jamwal, Sayeed Wajahat, Vinod Sharma, Mohd Akbar Khan, Mohd Rafiq Rather and others.
