Major improvement during the day, presenting spring like weather condition | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Feb 23: The Jammu and Kashmir witnessed a spring like weather condition today while barring summer capital, Srinagar, the minimum temperature also remained above normal though it was sub zero at Pahalgam and Gulmarg. Leh and Kargil in Ladakh region continued to freeze after the minimum temperature witnessed further drop. A Met department spokesman said here this afternoon that weather will remain dry in the Jammu and Kashmir during the next six days. After witnessing below normal minimum temperature, people in the summer capital, Srinagar, woke up to a sunny morning, in a Spring season like weather conditions though cold winds also continued. Hills surrounding Srinagar were full of snow, clearly visible from civil lines due to clear sky. Against yesterdays 1.6 degree minimum temperature, it was minus 0.1 degree in Srinagar, more than a notch below normal though the maximum temperature yesterday was 17 degree, which was 7 notches above normal. The sky would be mainly clear and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 18 degree, eight notches above normal and 00 degree respectively during the next 24 hours. Pahalgam, the world famous health resort was the coldest in the valley though it was still above normal. Against yesterdays minus 2.3 degree, the minimum temperature there was minus 3.9 degree, slightly below normal. At world famous ski resort of Gulmarg the minimum temperature remained 3.5 degree, 2.5 degree below normal. Qazigund, gateway of valley and Kokernag in south Kashmir and Kupwara in north witnessed above normal minimum temperature. Against yesterdays minus 5.1 degree, the minimum temperature at Leh was minus 8.9 degree while at border town of Kargil it was minus 9.8 degree against yesterdays minus 9 degree. The sky would be mainly clear and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 6 degree and minus 8 degree respectively during the next 24 hours. |
