Early Times Report
Rajouri, Feb 23: Inhabitants of Khawas of Rajouri district have criticized the tehisl as well as district administration for ignoring the people who have been denied of basic amenities including ration supply despite hoarded at ration depots.
Village Khawas is about 100 kilometer from Rajouri district head quarters and is situated in the remote area of the district at the intersection point with Reasi district.
People alleged that no ration was supplied by the Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution (CAPD) department for the last two months while the people in many areas are without power for the last more than one year as the more than 10 transformers have been damaged but Power Development Department (PDD) officials seems to be in deep slumber and are unaware about the problems being faced by the people.
"Being a remote area of the district officers/officials concerned don't bother to visit the area to know the difficulties being faced by the people. Sometimes Member Parliament along with local MLA pay visit to our areas but they also sho green pastures only," said Mohd Azam and Shakeel Singh.
Shakeel Singh, BJP,Mandal president said that about one years ago Block Development Officer (BDO) was transferred and no replacement was made till today.
"BDO Kotranka has been given additional charge of Khawas BDO and People have to cover a distance of more than 40 kilometers to reach Kotranka to get their routine works done, he added.
"Due to damage to roads leading to Khawas tehsil HQs CAPD officials avoided to send ration and the people are forced to purchase ration on higher prices from open market" said another local.
He added no development work is in progress in the tehsil at present including snapping of work on three major roads being constructed under Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna.
Meantime Ch Zulfikar, former CAPD Minister and local MLA claims that Rural Development Department (RDD) has taken up 159 development works in Khawas Zone with for which Rs 183.76 lakhs have been released and out of which Rs 128,66 lakhs have been spent on these works.
But the inhabitants of the Khawas tehsil are of the view that they have not spotted any development work on ground.
"Recently the CAPD department has sent some bags of wheat but the dealer at Khawas have locked the wheat in the store for the reasons best known to him. Tehsil Supply official has visited only twice since the creation of this tehsil about 14 months back" said Shakeel Singh and others
"Not only the people facing acute shortage of kerosene, LPG, government ration, safe drinking water but the government has also failed to send Block Development officer" said Salem Khan, sarpanch.
