Work suspended on GDC building in Banihal

BANIHAL, Feb 23: Slow pace of work on under construction government degree college Banihal has subjected the students to inconvenience.
Sources said that the degree college is running in two rooms of government higher secondary school Banihal and in some ordinary rooms constructed by army under operation sadbhavna from past seven years.
The college was established in the year 2008 but still the building of the college is not completed yet.
The works on this under construction building started in the year of 2014 but is yet to be completed. The construction work of the collage building is allotted to JKPCC on the estimated cost of Rupees 11.35 crore . Due to slow pace of work by the JKPCC on unknown reasons the buildings of the college are still incomplete and the construction work on this building is totally off from past some months .
When contacted the sub contractor Sarpanch Mohammad Aslam who is engaged by JKPCC on construction of building said that the work on this under construction building has stopped due to non avalibilty of payment. He said that PCC has stopped payment to them which results the stoppage of construction of the building from past some months. He more said that the officials of PCC are said that they have shortage of funds and soon they will release their payment. The sub contractor said that the building is complete up to the slab level and after releading the previous payment he became able to start further pending works on the under construction building.
Sources said that the new session of the college is going to start now after the examinations of part 1st, 2nd and 3rd in near future.
Source said that the JK PCC is engaged for the construction of this college building and earlier some land owners makes objections on their land compensation matter. They said latter it has been cleared and now the slow pace of work by JKPCC and their sub-contractors on unknown reasons had make late in its completion.
The students of the college said that there is only arts subject in the college and due to incomplete building they can't demand for science and other subjects.
