Confused RSS says Kashmir, Manipur, Arunachal need to be treated differently
2/25/2016 12:30:22 AM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 24: The RSS, which claims that it's a cultural organization, is committed to national unity and integrity and is for the complete merger of J&K with India, has only produced half-baked ideologues. They have no concept of State and sovereignty. Their concept of nationalism and patriotism is also flawed. Even their concept of "Akhand Bharat" is flawed. Statecraft is foreign to them and most of them do not know what they say. And when they speak, they only cut a sorry figure. They appear clueless.
Reference to just one example in this regard would be enough to make the point that the RSS' ideologues are ill-trained, ill-equipped and half-baked. On Monday, the RSS' leading ideologue Rakesh Sinha spoke on J&K when media persons and the Left-leaning spokespersons of various outfits questioned the BJP's nationalistic credentials and also questioned the alliance of the BJP with the PDP on the ground that the PDP considered the lawful hanging of Afzal Guru, convicted in the 2001 Parliament terror attack case, as "travesty of justice". The critics of the BJP and the RSS ridiculed both the BJP and the RSS and told them that "they have no moral and political right to take action against the seditious and pro-Afzal Guru and pro-Maqbool Bhat JNU students as the BJP itself is an ally of the pro-separatist and pro-Afzal Guru PDP".
Sinha reiterated that the "PDP is a separatist party" and, at the same time, defended the alliance of the BJP with the PDP, saying J&K was a different issue. Confused and half-baked as he was, he made a fool of himself and questioned the very idea of India by asserting and re-asserting that "Kashmir, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh are different kinds of State". "It would be foolish to equate Kashmir, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh with other States of the Union," he said, thus vindicating those who believed that "the RSS and the BJP wanted to drive J&K away from India and endanger the life of the Hindus, Buddhists and Sikhs in the State".
That the RSS doesn't have a single ideologue in the real sense of the term could also be seen from what BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, who was the RSS' spokesperson before becoming overnight a BJP national leader, has been saying and doing in J&K and outside it about J&K and about the agenda of alliance.
The worst part of the whole situation is that the ABVP, which is a student wing of the RSS, is unwilling to say that it has anything to do with the BJP and the BJP only says that the ABVP is close to the BJP because it shares its ideology. They are so defensive and those who remain on the defensive get decimated and become a laughing stock.
The fact of the matter is that most of the RSS leaders are living in a world of the past and the result is that even the Hindus, who till recently used to respect this organization, have become worst critics of it and its political organ, the BJP.
The RSS top leadership needs to sit up and find where their organization is lacking. If it is to remain relevant and not become a story of the past, it has to work hard and produce cadres who are well-equipped with arguments and counter-arguments and who know what the State, nation, sovereignty, border and statecraft mean.
