Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Feb 24: Following inordinate delay in the making of Aadhaar cards, angry people, who had arrived from different parts of the district, today ransacked the Aadhaar card enrolment centre at New DC office complex here. As per the details available with Early Times, people hailing from Marwah, Warwan, Dachhan, Padder, Keshwan, Sarthal, Sarror and Kishtwar town assembled at Aadhaar enrolment centre at New DC office complex here. Due to the slow process of registration, people got angry and ransacked the Aadhaar car enrolment centre, besides breaking the glass panes, but the situation was soon brought under control with the intervention of elders present on spot. Later, police also rush to the spot.
While talking to Early Times, the inhabitants of Marwah said they were visiting the centre for last three days, but had not got Aadhaar cards. Staying at Kishtwar for such a long period was a costly affair for them, they added.
The employees who had been asked to get the Aadhaar card for felicitating smooth withdrawal of their salaries from March 2016 onwards also rued the slow pace of work at the Aadhaar card enrolment centre. "I am coming here since last one week for correction of my date of birth, but all in vain," said an employee. Another employee said that his parentage was written wrongly in the Aadhaar card, but it was not being corrected despite the fact that he had approached the centre staff several times. Staff at the centre said they earlier had ten computers, but they were now left with six only. The heavy rush and irregular power supply were other reasons for slow place of work. Despite the availability of Aadhaar card enrolment centres at Chhatroo, Mughal Maidan and other areas, people were coming to Kishtwar for getting Aadhaar cards. They urged the people to approach the nearest Aadhaar enrolment centres to avoid inconvenience to themselves.
