ATM set on fire: SBI authorities yet to submit CCTV footage | | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar, Feb 24: More than a month since the burglers set Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) of the SBI on fire on the intervening night of 20/21 January 2016 after they failed to break it, the authorities of State Bank of India have failed to provide the all important CCTV footage to Police. As per the details available with Early Times, some unidentified burglers broke inside the SBI ATM located in posh area of Chinar Gali in the heart of Kishtwar town merely 100 metre away from the security picket at Gudhali Chowk Kishtwar and attempted to loot the ATM by breaking its two tier security rings. Failing to access the cash kept inside the ATM chest , they set the shop that housed the ATM on fire. Senior police officials informed Early Times that despite repeated request to the SBI authorities who had a contract with private company, the bank officials failed to submit the CCTV footage which according to police is crucial evidence in identifying the culprits. Police said that delay in handing over the CCTV footage is hampering the investigation of the case. The police sources also did not rule out the hand of some insiders and added that only CCTV footage could unravel the culprits involved in the incident added that further delay on part of the bank in handing over the CCTV footage will hamper the investigations.. It is pertinent to mention that the complaint was lodged by the SBI Officer Mudassir Ahmed Ganie resident of Bhaderwah and police register FIR. No. 17 U/S 457/380/511/436 RPC at police station Kishtwar and entrusted the inquiry to Sub Inspector Anil Kotwal, beside SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Kumar Wazir is also personally monitoring the investigation of the case. |
