Govt formation likely after Budget Session of Parliament | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 24: The BJP-PDP Government may be delayed till the Budget Session of the Parliament, the first session of which is to end on March 20 and will re-convene on April 20. The reason is Afzal Guru and the incidents in JNU which are directly connected to him are the hot topics in the Parliament. The opposition parties accusing BJP of 'gagging' dissent and labeling dissent as 'sedition' have already started accusing the BJP of having double standards on it by aligning with the PDP, which they said has special place for the PDP. On Wednesday MP Assadudin Owaisi in his speech about the JNU incidents said what BJP will have to answer when it has an alliance with the PDP who had expressed reservations about the hanging of the Afzal Guru. The BJP feels that if the alliance re-made soon that party will be cornered on this issue. "J&K Government is very much on the cards. But we don't want to give any handle to the opposition to re-change the narrative about the JNU and Afzal Guru, which has been corrected to an extent by the speech of the HRD Minister Smriti Irani.," said a senior BJP leader. The BJP however has been keeping the talks on with the PDP president Mehbooba Mufti through back-channels. The fact that PDP president Mehbooba Mufti too is sensitive to the issue is reflected by the fact neither of the PDP MPs spoke on this issue in the Parliament debate on Wednesday. "The PDP understands the political sensibilities of the BJP when the narrative is being around as against the party so if the Government formation is delayed by few more days nothing will happen. As an alliance partner we are supportive of it," said a PDP leader. |
