Sufferers reject Govt aid, stay in tents provided by Congress | | | Early Times Report
Samba, Feb 24: On the directions of former Chief Minister of J&K and leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, a group of Congress activists led by Choudhary Mohammad Yasmeen distributed relief material at Sarore in Samba amongst the victim families whose structures were damaged by JDA on Monday with the help of police personnel without any prior notice to the families residing there. On Tuesday a group of Congress activists led by Choudhary Mohammad Yasmeen, accompanied by Choudhary Razaq, Choudhary Aslam,Choudhary Imran and other members, acting upon the directions G.N.Azad visited the village Sarore and distributed relief items which include tents, and other eatables amongst the sufferers. On the occasion the members of the team interacted with the people whose shelters were demolished on Monday. The victim families the efforts of the Congress team deputed by Azad for providing them the relief material without any delay. The team deputed by Azad has been providing the relief material especially tents since the incident took place at the village. The team has been providing the assistance to victim families since Tuesday. Though the government has provided the tents for the sufferers, the victim families are reluctant to take shelter there as the place where the tents have been installed are about half a km away from the place where they have been residing. Reports said that sufferers have been preferring to stay in the tents provided by the Congress activists deputed by LOP in Rajya Sabha G.N. Azad as the team has installed the tents at the places where the victim families have been residing prior to the demolition of their structures. |
