Four held over gang-rape, murder of minor in Katra

Katra, Feb 24: Police today claimed to have arrested four "hardcore criminals" in gang-rape and murder of a minor girl in Katra of Reasi district in Jammu region
:The four accused have been identified namely as Pawan Kumar s/o Ram Saran of Sila Reasi, Madan Lal s/o Puran Chand of Kanjalai, Rajinder Kumar s/o Mohan Lal of Gran Morh and Prashad Singh @ Parshotam s/o Inder Singh of Gandhali Panera, police said.
Police spokesperson said, "A nine-year-old girl (name withheld) living in Pahar Gunj area of Katra town went missing mysteriously on 24-25 January 2016 and her body was recovered from a small rivulet in the town on February 8.
"Only a cap was found from the crime spot i.e. spot of kidnapping of the minor and taking the minor evidence as a lead, police team under the supervision of SSP Reasi Sujit Kumar and led by AdSP Samir Kotwal started investigations, police said.
Police said, "During investigations the police rounded up a suspect namely Pawan Kumar s/o Ram Saran resident of Sila Reasi who confessed his crime whereas his family members also identified the cap found on crime scene.
"On his disclosure, police nabbed three other persons namely Rajinder Kumar s/o Mohan Lal of Gran Morh and Prashad Singh @ Parshotam s/o Inder Singh of Gandhali Panera," police said
"All these four accused are hardcore criminals who had abducted the minor girl in a car and repeatedly gangraped her and later murdered the victim," said the spokesman.
All the accused have been booked u/s 302 and 363 of Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) and further investigations are on.
