ED destroys 375 kg lahan, 50 bottles illicit liquor after recovery | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Feb 24: Under the active supervision of Excise Commissioner, J&K T. Angchuk and Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Mohammed Shahid Saleem, Excise Team Kathua under the command of ETO, Sandeep Gupta raided the Keengdayal area of Kathua district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation. More than 375 hundred kilo grams of Lahan and fifty bottles of illicit liqour made from a lahan, which is highly hazardous & injurious to health, was recovered by the raiding team which was later destroyed by the team on spot. Meanwhile the Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Mohammed Shahid Saleem warned the general public ,proprietors of Banquet halls, Marriage halls, Clubs, Restaurants, Hotels etc to desist from serving liqour meant for sale to Defence/Para-Military Forces or belonging to any other State in Liqour parties as the same causes huge loss to the State exchequer viz-a-viz excise revenue. It has been made clear that serving the liqour meant for sale to Defence/Para-Military Forces or belonging to any other State is illegal and shall attract penal action under section 48 of the J&K Excise Act, 1958 which is imprisonment for three years and fine ten times of the prescribed fee (Rs. 50,000/-) & sealing/ blacklisting of the venue (Banquet hall/ Marriage hall/ Club/ Restaurant/ Hotels/ Building etc). |
