Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 4: Voicing concern over the proposed move of Union Home Ministry to constitute a Coordination Committee on return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits to Valley, activists of various KP organizations staged a protest demonstration in front of Relief Commissioners Office here today.
The representatives of NC Minority Cell, ASKPC, Thinkers Forum, AMCCC, BJP and other organizations participated in the protest.
Shouting slogans against the Government the protestors said that the said committee was not acceptable to them as the genuine representatives of the community have been ignored.
The protestors said that the Committee was not acceptable to them as Government cant thrust the leaders on Pandits by ignoring their genuine aspirations. Outright rejecting the proposed Committee the protestors said that four members are non migrants who are neither concerned with migration nor do they know ABC of Kashmir problem and sufferings and pain of displaced Pandits.
The protestors also turned tables on State Government and accused it of deliberately ignoring the genuine leadership of the community as it is not interested in return and rehabilitation of this microscopic community back in Valley and want that every move of Union Government should be thwarted.
The protestors said that thrusting the leaders from top will not be acceptable and government should talk with cross section of community leaders by giving representation to every organization in it.
The Pandits, while criticizing the move said that ASKPC which is the prime organization of the Pandits has not been given representation in it which is a cause of concern. The ASKPC which has a long history in Pandits struggle since 1931 cant be ignored in giving its due place to the community.
The alleged that the real representatives were not included in the Coordination Committee to sideline them under a big conspiracy as the Government does not want that KPs problems should be highlighted.
Meanwhile Kashmir Hindu Conference (KHC) and Magam BangilSabha has also expressed its apprehensions over the proposed move saying this way the Government has back stabbed the displaced Pandits.
KHC convener P L Koul Budgami and Bangil Sabha chief Raj Nath Raina said that BJP was hoodwinking the Pandits and it has backtracked from its promises on settling Pandits in a Satellite township or one place. They said the community ahs been backstabbed by BJP led Government at Centre just to please the PDP.
