Early Times Report

Kishtwar, Mar 4: Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Kishtwar, has been appointed as inquiry officer to look into the alleged issue of 'non-existing' government offices in Marwah sub-division of the district.
The inhabitants of remote Marwah and Warwan areas of Marwah approached the governor's advisors a few days back and apprised them of various problems faced by locals due to non- existing of government offices sanctioned for Marwah and Warwan and sought their intervention to make them functional.
They also apprised the advisors about the prevailing absenteeism culture in the area and alleged that government employees posted in the area never attended their duties and also rued that even top officials of the area, including SDM and tehsildar, do not attend their duties regularly.
After giving them patient hearing, the advisors took up the matter with Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Ghulam Nabi Balwan and directed him to submit a fact finding report on the issues raised by inhabitants during their meeting with them.
Acting on their direction, the DC, vide his order No 567-69/DCK/Gen/2016 directed ACR Khalid Malik to visit the area and take stock of the issues raised by the people of the area and furnish a detailed report within 10 days.
The inhabitants had told the advisors that most of government offices in Marwah area were not functioning as the concerned officials 'do not stay there'. They had also taken up the issue of distribution of solar lights in the area. It is pertinent to mention that the area remains cut off from the rest of the state during winters due heavy snowfall. It also lacks electricity and communication even after 67 years of independence. The people also complained about non-availability of ration in the area and demanded an inquiry into the alleged embezzlement in the government ration.
