Sources said that last night police arrested a fake faith healer in Sopore town who has been involved in sexual exploitation of minors. He has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh resident of Mundji, Bomai Sopore.
A senior police official said that, the fake faith healer was allegedly involved in shameful act of sexually exploiting minor children up to 14 years in the name of faith.
"In recent past, father of a child who was exploited had lodged a complaint in police station Bomai Sopore, after which police launched a manhunt to arrest the fake faith healer," the official said. He said the arrested fake faith healer has been allegedly involved in this shameful and evil act from last 16 years.
The fake faith healer used to tell people the stories about his miracles and all he also used to give them amulets for different purposes. He used to tell them about his spiritual powers and asked them to bring children to him so that the ghost/jinn can talk to them, the official added.
"We came to know he would exploit the minor children and tell them not to disclose it to anyone, or else they will lose their lives due to his spiritual powers," said the official.
Police has registered a case vide FIR no: 22 of 2016 under section 377 RPC in Police Station Bomai against the fake faith healer. Police has appealed people whose children have been exploited by this fake faith healer to come forward, so that more statements could be recorded in time.
The shameful revelation has shocked the whole area and people of different thoughts have appealed for strict punishment to the fake faith healer.
It is important to mention here that, on May 25, 2013 such type of shameful act came to fore in Budgam district, where a fake faith healer Gulzar Peer was arrested on charges of raping four girls at his seminary in the village.
After which a local court acquitted him on after observing that the prosecution had "miserably failed" to prove him guilty.
