CB recommends action against SICOP officials | Bungling in rehab works post 2005 earthquake | | Avinash Azad
Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 4: Indicating bungling in rehab works after 2005 earth-quake in Kashmir by SICOP, the crime branch has recommended administrative action against officials involved. However, the reluctant administration has not instigated recovery process yet. Sources informed Early Times, after bugling surfaced, the crime branch Kashmir registered an FIR No: 1/2008 with Police station Crime Branch Kashmir and investigated the bungling taken place in the handling of government material meant for earth quake victims of Kashmir valley. "It took Crime Branch Kashmir eight years to finalize the investigation. It is to state that Galvanized corrugated sheet of 50 mm was provided by government of India to JK state government to be distributed among earth quack victims of Kashmir to be routed through J&K Small Scale Industry Development Corporation (SICOP)", sources informed adding that the corporation was asked to distribute the material. They further said that crime branch concluded the case of bungling after a period of eight years, vide their communication no: CBK/R-1333-34 dated6/2/2016 addressed to Managing Director. "On the basis of statements recorded and other material evidence placed on the file offence under section 409,420, 120-8 RPC were established against Gulam Rasool Mir (retired) Dy General Manager, Gh Qadir Mir, Store Officer Raw material depot Zainakote Srinagar. Mohd Maqbool Hajam Assistant, Hamid UIla Shah District Manager Uri, Gh Mohd Waza Store Keeper and others, for having committed bungling and a shortage of 49.613 metric tons", sources in CBK told Early Times. "CB advised Managing Director SICOP to proceed with the recovery process and initiate other administrative action against the accused as established by Crime Branch Kashmir", sources said, alleging that attempts are being made to shield culprits. Sources further said that it has been further learnt that big fishes involved in the case have not been touched who were responsible for dispatch of material from Jammu to Srinagar and other destinations of Kashmir division. "The god fathers in SICOP of these big fishes, who are also squarely responsible for shortage, have managed not to provide the proper record against them and concealed certain facts before the investigating agency as a result they all moved escort free. The SICOP employees have made a formal request to the government to start with fresh departmental enquiry with the members from administrative department", sources claimed. They said that a lot of complaints poured in that time for having misused the material and mal practice involved in the handling of material, by top bosses in the administration at that time. SSP Crime Branch, Srinagar Shahid Mehraj when contacted said the CB has recommended administrative action against officials involved in bungling. |
