Insurance employees demonstrate against tax on EPF 3/5/2016 12:22:30 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 4 : Massive demonstrations were held today outside offices of LIC of India Jammu by LIC employees against the budget proposal of the NDA Govt. to levy tax on EPF withdrawl. The demonstrations were held as per the call of All India Insurance Employees' Association. Speaking on the occasion at D.O Cell Jammu, Comrade Pawan Gupta Divisional Secretary Northern Zone Insurance Employees' Association Srinagar Division lambasted on the Central Govt. against the budget proposal to levy tax on EPF withdrawls. He said it will discourage the workers for domestic savings which is an essential factor for growth of an economy. Already the social security of workers has been snatched by implementing NPS which provides for defined contribution but never says about anything about the benefits, and now the NDA Govt. has attacked the rights of the workers by snatching their social security by taxing their hard earned money urgently required by them for the marriage of children, education of children on retirement and as a provision for their old age. It is a sort of cruelty towards workers which the NZIEA strongly opposes and demands of the NDA Govt. to withdraw this budget proposal. This move of the Govt. is not only against the workers but also against the economy of the country. Comrade Pawan Gupta also opposed the continuation of service tax on insurance policies and against the move of the Govt.to privatize the public sector General Insurance cos. Others who spoke at D.O.Cell Jammu - Com. Romesh Chand Joint Secretary NZIEA Srinagar Division,Com.Raj Kumar and Com.Dinesh Sharma -Divisional Committee members, Com. Nanak Chand, Com. Alkiya Sharma. The demonstration was led by Com.
