RAJOURI, Mar 11: The election for the post of president Rajouri Bar Association was held in a cordial and peaceful atmosphere. Advocate Haq Nawaz was elected as the president of the Bar Association with a margin of 8 votes. The election was conducted under the supervision of ex-president and senior most Advocate Liyakat Ali Choudhry while Advocates Khilat Bhat and Ashfaq Lone performed the duties of Returning and Assistant Returning Officers respectively. "For the last many years the young advocates working in the Rajouri Courts wanted to streamline the system of Rajouri Bar Association and it was decided to hold elections for Bar President," said Advocate Israr Mirza.
Out of 80 votes polled, Haq Nawaz got 44 votes while advocate Khaliq Firdous got 36 votes. After the election process was completed, advocate Rajesh Sharma was unanimously elected as general secretary of the Bar Association. |
