budgam, Mar 12 : The vigilance organisation, Kashmir, (VOK), today produced challan in the court of special anti-corruption judge, Srinagar, Yashpal Bourney against then head assistant, land and acquisition section, in the office of Budgam deputy commissioner, in a case of corruption. VOK had in 2015 received a written complaint from Firdous Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar of Kralpora, Budgam, against Ghulam Mahdi Pandith, son of Ghulam Hassan Pandith of Iskenderpora, Budgam, then head assistant, land and acquisition section, in the office of DC, Budgam. He stated in his complaint that Army unit, Budgam, had deposited Rs 6,00,000 compensation against his wife Ulfat Ahad's land which was under the army possession and alleged that the head assistant demanded a bribe of Rs 3,000 from him to release of the payment from the DC's office. Since the complainant was against paying the bribe, he approached VOK. On receipt of the complaint, VOK registered FIR No 05/2015 under section 5(2) of P C Act Svt 2006 read with section 161 of RPC. A team headed by DSP Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh laid a successful trap and caught the head assistant red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 3,000 as bribe from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered from his possession in the presence of independent witness and the trap team members. Official sources said since investigation of the case was concluded as proved against the accused, the challan was produced in the court of special anti-corruption judge, Srinagar, today for judicial determination. |
