Atleast 500 tourists held up at Banihal Rly Station, NH-1A opened for one way traffic

Banihal, Mar 21: More than five hundred tourist passengers from outside state were stranded at Railway Station Banihal after visiting Kashmir Valley but found no-way to proceed to jammu following road blockades due to land and mudlisdes at various places on Jammu Srinagar National Highway-NH1A.
"They are struck up in Banihal from past four days and they are missing their advanced railway reservations," lamented a tourist.
He said that they are more than 300 tourists from West Bengal and Gujarat who have reached here Kashmir on last week.
Some of stranded tourists at Railway Station Banihal said that the road blockades on National Highway have forced them to remain stuck up for last four days. They lamented even after the opening of road on fourth day they were not allowed to proceed towards Jammu and their train reservation could get cancelled failing to reach to boarding station -Jammu.
In this regard when contacted DySP (Traffic) Banihal, Nisar Ranjay said that there is one way traffic allowed on highway and the two way traffic could create traffic Jam on highway.
He said that after clearing the Kashmir bound traffic the traffic authorities are trying their best to allow the stranded passengers of Railway Station Banihal towards Jammu.
He more said that the after the hectic efforts of road clearance agencies and traffic police they got success to clear and maintain the road at Gangroo, Ramsoo and Batote. He assured that efforts are on to allow the stranded passengers at Banihal towards Jammu.
Pertinent to mention that vehicular movement of traffic on highway was restored on fifth day after continuous closer of four days. Meanwhile the caved in portion of highway near Batote has been filled up by stones by road maintenance agencies to make the movement of traffic on highway possible.
