Mehbooba reaches Delhi, Govt formation 'soon' | Advani-Joshi duo's help sought to save PDP-BJP alliance | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 21: To break the prevailing logjam in giving new shape to PDP-BJP alliance in Jammu and Kashmir, some "neutral interlocutors", close to both the parties, have sought help of veteran BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi. These interlocutors are aware that Advani-Joshi duo has power to convince PDP and BJP leadership to show some flexibility to re-form the alliance in J&K. Credible sources in the corridors of power said that Advani and Joshi have also given their consent to play their role to save PDP-BJP coalition, which is at the verge of collapse, in J&K. LK Advani had played very dominant role in formation of previous PDP-BJP Government headed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Both Advani and Joshi had especially came to attend oath taking ceremony of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Council of Ministers. Sources said that it was all due to intervention of veteran leaders that some BJP Ministers have shown flexibility to form Government in J&K. "It is due to assurance of these interlocutors that Advani and Joshi will play their role in re-shaping the alliance, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has decided to go to New Delhi to explore new possibilities", sources said. Meanwhile amid logjam, Mehbooba Mufti left for New Delhi this afternoon and is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow. The visit comes in the backdrop of the renewed efforts from both parties to reach each other and end the deadlock that had reached to almost point of no return on Thursday when talks between Mehbooba and Amit Shah ended without yielding any results. Though the PDP has confirmed the visit of Mehbooba to New Delhi but did not say anything about the 'proposed' meeting between Prime Minister and Mehbooba. Party's Chief spokesman and former Education Minister Naeem Akhtar however, said that doors can't be shut for negotiations, dropping hints of fresh negotiations taking place between the two former allies. "I don't know whether Mehbooba would be meeting PM, but yes she is travelling to New Delhi." Akhtar told a Kashmir based news agency. He stressed that negotiations in polity are inevitable and doors can't be shut to arrive consensus. The fresh developments are believed to be the outcome of a late night meeting of BJP top brass at New Delhi on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by BJP National General Secretary Ram Madav and was attended by BJP Sate President Sat Sharma, Former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh, and MP Jugal Kishore. |
