Lal Singh loses cool as youth object to his rhetoric | | | Kunal Shrivatsa Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 21: Infamous for his 'short-temper' and "arrogant" behaviour, the former Minister and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Basohli, Choudhary Lal Singh, on Monday once again behaved like an "angry young man" and blasted the youth who objected to his "rhetoric ." Sources told Early Times the former Minister resorted to his usual 'outbursts' at a"Kissan Mela" organized by the Agriculture Department at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Dhar Mahanpur in Basohli tehsil of Kathua district today. Choudhary Lal Singh, who was chief guest on the occasion, lost his temper when a group of 20-25 youth questioned his announcement wherein he claimed that tender work worth Rs 15 crore was allotted for construction of Dhar-Mahanpur-Basohli road. Youth disrupting Singh's speech annoyed him and he left the venue in a jiffy. Ex-Sarpanch Dhar-Mahanpur Panchayat, Sadanand Sharma said, "Some local youth resented Lal Singh's statement and alleged that he made similar promise of starting the construction of Dhar- Mahanpur-Basohli road last year also but no concrete action was taken to execute the work." Sarpanch Dhar Mahanpur Panchayat, Gian Chand when contacted said: "The questions raised by a few youth regarding the construction of Dhar Mahanpur-Basohli road did not go well for the MLA. It led to an argument between the legislator and youth which led to youth raising slogans against the MLA MLA who left the programme mid-way." Later, the villagers took out a protest march and unanimously decided that they would not allow the MLA to hold any programme in the area in future. Meanwhile, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kathua suspended a class IV employee of Health Department identified as Ajay Singh for posting the "political statement and recording of protest against MLA" on a social media site. "The employee has been suspended and attached in the office of CMO for releasing political statement on WhatsApp and derogatory remarks against the MLA till pending inquiry," the order said. |
