Six booked for murder assault, protest erupts after two youth were assaulted

Jammu, Mar 21: A sporadic protest was sparked when two youth were assaulted by the rival gang in Simbal Camp in city outskirts here on Monday. Meanwhile police have booked six persons in this murderous assault which resulted into panic in city outskirts.
The injured have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Rocky s/ o Labh Singh and Gurpreet Singh alias Pumy s/o Ranjit Singh both hailing from Simbal camp.
As per police sources, two persons namely Gurpreet Singh alias Rocky and Gurpreet Singh alias Pumy were allegedly attacked by a group of six miscreants this morning with sharp-edged weapons in Simbal Camp.
"The accused also fired few gun shots, an eyewitnesses said further adding that the victim had received multiple injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
Meanwhile police sources said, " Injured Rocky has been shifted to the Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar, for advance treatment while the other injured is being operated in the Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu.
The murderous assault has created panic in the locality while family members and locals also staged a massive protest demanding arrest of the accused, who reportedly have fled from the spot leaving their victims in pool of blood. The agitated locals staged protest for hours and blocked the Jammu Miran Sahib road for hours together.
A police officer giving information said that, an FIR against the six accused persons have been lodged at Miran Sahib Police u/s 307,323,341 RPC, 3/25 and 4/25 Arms Act.
"The accused have been identified as Dilgh Singh s/o Janak Sing r/o Simbal, his brother Gagan Deep Singh, Mohinder Singh alias Sonu s/o Ujagar Singh, jyot Singh alias Daal, Jaggi and Lucky (both sons of Jagjeet Singh), he added.
"Old rivalry between two families is stated to be the reason behind the assault," the officer said, adding manhunt has been lodged to arrest the accused persons.
