Early Times Report Kishtwar, Mar 21: Five jawans of 17 RR were today injured when their truck, which was on its way from Kishtwar to Udhampur, met with an accident near Prem Nagar, Doda. Police sources said the driver of army truck, while trying to cross a damaged road, lost control over the vehicle as a result of which it turned turtle, resulting in injury to five army jawans. As soon as the news of the accident reached nearby army headquarter of 8 RR, army officers rushed to the spot along with a rescue team and shifted all the injured to army hospital, Thaleela, with the help of locals and police. All the injured were said to be stable. It may be mentioned here that the condition of most of roads in the area, including Kishtwar-Batote road, is not good. The locals said while roads were sinking at some places, the protection walls built along them had also suffered damages. They demanded the upgradation of Kishtwar-Batote road on the pattern of Jammu-Udhampur road. "In case the government does not take steps to further improve the quality of Kishtwar-Batote road, people of Kishtwar and Doda districts may suffer problems in future," they claimed. "The bridge on Doda-Dessa road has collapsed due to rains as a result of which people of Dessa are facing lot of problems, particularly the shortage of essential commodities," locals claimed. |
