Bandobasti road encroached, villagers protest for eviction | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Mar 21: Hundreds of villagers today came on road against encroacher Yodh Singh who encroached Bandobasti road granted by Revenue department for public use. The protest was led by Angrez Singh Sarpanch of Maha Panchyat. The protesters forcibly damaged the boundary walls and gate used for covering the road. While addressing the protesters, Angrez Singh said the road was used by 10,000 people of Village Maha and nearby villages for decades which was shortest path to reach Kathua town. He alleged Yodh Singh to encroach the road forcibly whereas after number of complaints, revenue and Police department did not take any action against encroacher. He said whenever deputation approached officials of revenue department deployed in Maha Panchayat, they made several excuses and ignore the encroachment earlier that urged encroacher to cover with concrete boundary walls and Iron Gate. Shamsher Singh, a villager said revenue department superficially instructed but hesitated to take strict action against blue eyed encroacher. When contacted Patwari Arun Kumar, he discarded involvement of revenue department in encroachment and added that department forbade to encroach the road but encroacher covered the land during night. He said field staff has informed to high authority and strict action will be taken according to norms. |
