Jammu, Mar 21: Department of Ecology Environment organized rural awareness program to focus on significance of forest biodiversity in the rural economy.
O P Sharma Director Ecology Environment & Remote Sensing addressed villagers to spread environmental education among locals highlighting need to conserve,multiply and propagate native decorative cum medicinal trees like Kachnar, Sohanjana, Lasuda, Jiyopota, Parijat, Medda sak, Harad, Baheda, Amla, Goolar, Bael, Kamla,Marod phal, Phalsa, Barna, Reetha, Kakoha, Tinbru, Semal, Ber, Tatra, Padal, Sandan, Amaltas, Dhraink, Dhatki etc.
Sarpanch Mathwar Ashok K Sharma while welcoming organizers appealed villagers to plant superior Raj harad saplings available with SKUAST at its Chatha campus. Anil Gaind green industrialist shared his inputs on cost effective prefabricated toilets in the interest of better hygiene of Mathwar area.
