Farmers face massive losses as sudden rain wreaks havoc | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Mar 21 : Farmers and inhabitants of Kalakote tehsil in Rajouri district have suffered extensive loss to their crops, houses and agricultural land during 7 days long torrential rains in the district in the last week. Talyot -Mehtka road is closed for the last three days due to soil erosion while 2 animals have died after a Kachha animal shelter of Abdul Aziz was damaged in village Sum. Boundary wall of middle school has been damaged in village Kural while many people in village Mohgla have suffered heavy loss as the flood water had entered in their shops and houses. In village Beinal and Dharoti agricultural land of many farmers have been damaged due to torrential rains and flash flood. More than 90% crops have been damaged inn Solki, Potha, Khark-Panjah, Kotkabu etc and the farmers / inhabitants of these and many other villages have appealed to the district authorities to send teams to their areas to assess the losses. While talking to the local reporters, Bal Krishan , SDM, Kalakote has assured the sufferers that soon various teams from revenue department shall visit the areas affected by recent rains and the report s will be forwarded to higher authorities for further action". |
