| Locals protest on highway over bad condition of Doligam- Phagoo- Banihal link road | | | Danish Muzafar

Banihal, Mar 28 : A large number of locals and students from Doligam and Phagoo area of Banihal today staged a protest on Jammu Srinagar highway against the Public works department (PWD ) and tehsil administration on the worst condition of Doligam Phagoo -Banihal link road and blocked road for some time.
Raising slogans against PWD authorities, the agitated protesters blocked the highway more than half an hour which affected the normal traffic on national highway.
Protesters alleged that despite repeated requests the Public Works Department and tehsil administration have failed to repair this link road forcing them to come on roads.
Speakers said that the condition of this road become the worst due to debris and muck recently dumped on road side by a construction company which is entrusted to lay a telephone cable in the area.
The local drivers who also were the part of protest pin pointed that their vehicles are getting damaged due to bad condition of this road and their hard earned money is often consumed by maintenance of vehicles instead of repaying their loans to the banks. Students participating in the protest said that they can't reach to their schools on time due to this worst condition of this link road.
Tehsildar Banihal Arshad Ahmed and SHO Banihal Nazir Ahmed Dar rushed to the spot and assured the angry protestors that the repairing work on this road will be started soon. Tehsildar Banihal assured the protestors that they have called the AEE of the PWD department and the department will start the repairing work from tomorrow. After the assurance of Tehsildar the agitated protesters lift their protest and allowed the traffic on highway. |
