Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 28: A few BJP legislators, who want to be ministers, and a few old horses, who may be dropped from the new cabinet, are reportedly trying their best to delay the government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources told Early Times that a few BJP leaders have thrown "tantrums" and want party leadership to accommodate them in the new cabinet. On the other hand a few former ministers who are apprehending that they are on the way out are trying to create "unnecessary confusion."
Insiders revealed that state BJP leadership has referred the matter to party high command and are waiting for their directions. "Talks are on with the PDP leadership to give us two more ministries and equal share in the council of ministers," they added.
A BJP leader from Kashmir said, "It seems BJP MLAs have become over ambitious. The final decision on who would be the ministers would be taken by the party high command. If high command wants new faces to be inducted it would be done and if any former ministers have to be dropped they would be shunted out."
He said, "BJP leaders from Jammu region are living in fool's paradise and are just trying to create last minute hurdles. They won't get anything by throwing tantrums."
The BJP leader said that their party won the 2014 Parliamentary and Assembly polls in Jammu region due to the Modi wave prevalent that time. "None of the MLAs can claim that they won the elections due to their popularity and good work," he added.
Sources claimed that when PDP Chief and Chief Minister designate Mehbooba Mufti along with other leaders called on Governor N N Vohra to stake claim for the government formation, the BJP senior leader Dr Nirmal Singh requested Mehbooba to seek some more time from Governor N N Vohra for the oath taking ceremony to take place.
"The differences within the BJP are also delaying the oath taking ceremony as it seems all the MLAs want to beministers and they are using all their influence to do something," said a source.
A politician said, "BJP leaders fighting among themselves has send a wrong message. It has proved the BJP are a divided house and state unit of the party revolves around individual interests. They should have sorted out allthe issues before Dr Nirmal Singh submitted the letter of support to Governor N N Vohra. Despite PDP-BJPstaking the claim we have no news about when the oath taking ceremony would take place."
