Srinagar, Mar 28 : Against his house, which was fully damaged in the September 2014 floods in Srinagar, a PDD junior engineer has allegedly received compensation for a cowshed. JE Sheikh Shaheen Iqbal said, "My two-storey pucca house situated adjacent to New Secretariat at Shaheed Gunj got completely damaged in the September 2014 floods, but I have received a meager compensation for fully damaged cowshed." "It is quite unfortunate to find that influential people were adequately compensated, but those who lost everything in floods have been left on the mercy of god. I received a cheque of Rs 2,300 in July last year against my fully damaged house," he claimed. "This is sheer injustice with me. How could government do this to me?" he asked. He claimed that around three concrete multi storey structures were marked as cowsheds and an amount of rupees 2300 was sanctioned to each of one. He said the government distributed cheques of Rs 1,25,000 to the owners of fully damaged pucca houses, but he was yet to receive any such cheque. |
