Jammu, Mar 30: State Vigilance Commission (SVC) has directed Additional Deputy Commissioner Reasi for thorough enquiry into alleged timber embezzlement and its illegal transportation in a police vehicle allegedly by a senior Police Officer posted at Mahore, Reasi. While taking serious note of allegations including criminal breach of trust embezzlement of Government property and abuse of official position by the concerned Police Officer, the State Vigilance Commission (SVC) directed ADC Reasi (DVO) to conduct a thorough enquiry into the alleged pilferage of timber. The commission has also directed SSP Reasi to appoint a senior officer to assist the Enquiry Officer for carrying out physical verification of timber seized by the Police Station Mahore and shall submit action taken by the Police Department regarding the use of police vehicle for carrying illegal timber towards Jammu and ensure submission of report before the Commission by 21/04/2016. According to case a report submitted to SVC revealed that SDPO, Mahore had in a case seized one tipper with 1769 sleepers of timber and Saw mill and presented the case before Court of Authorized Officer (DFO Reasi) on 07.05.2015. However, the seized timber was never handed-over to the Forest Department despite number of requests in writing made to the SDPO by the Forest Department. Subsequently, on 19.03.2015 a police vehicle loaded with illegal timber was intercepted and seized by the DFO Reasi which was on way from Mahore to Jammu. It further revealed that the said SDPO by abusing his official position misappropriated the seized timber in conspiracy with other officials of the Police Station by loading and transporting it in a Police load carrier. |
