Early Times Report

Srinagar, Mar: 30: In what could raise goose-bumps, the low-profile activist of PDP's youth wing, Waheed-ur Rehman Para, has turned his home constituency and also the South Kashmir's Pulwama district almost as his "personal property." Majority of the government institutions and even hospitals have Para's close relatives as employees many of them enjoying prime posts and perks.
It won't be wrong to call Pulwama district as "Para's Pulwama." Para has been using his influence as being close to PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti. Para, who belongs to a landlord family in Rajpora area of Pulwama was instrumental in the victory of former finance Minister Dr Haseeb Drabu. It was after hectic lobbying, Para allowed Drabu to contest from his home turf.
Reliable sources said that Para has worked over the years hard to get his dear and near ones adjusted in his home district in various government departments. Courtesy: He is considered one of the close confidants of PDP chief from the party's young lot.
However, favouritism and nepotism were key slogans which PDP used against the National Conference led Congress government, Early Times have learnt from reliable sources that PDP youth leader, Waheed Para was leaving no opportunity to grind own axes in terms of adjusting his close relatives in his own hometown.
The employee, who is Maternal uncle of the youth leader PDP, who was working as lecturer in degree college Pulwama, he was transferred to Thathri Degree College Doda, but he refused to go there as Para stopped his transfer and later got promotion out of turn and was posted as Principal in government degree college Pulwama.
"Abdul Hameed Shiekh was transferred to Doda Degree College, but he was not interested to go out of station, after Parra used his political influence, Shiekh was promoted as Principal and posted on his own choice," Sources disclosed.
Another high official, Fayaz Ahmed Para, Assistant development commissioner Pulwama is PDP's youth leader, Wahid Para's paternal uncle, who is also posted of his own choice in his hometown which is Pulwama, is also enjoying the full political patronage.
Source further said that it is unambiguously clear that in District Hospital Pulwama close relatives of Para's are working here in hometown for last several years and no one dares to transfer them.
"Doctor Abdul Rashid Para and his wife doctor Hafeeza, Physician and Gynaecologist respectively, are working in District Hospital Pulwama for last eight years. They were also transferred but later Wahid's interference and influence both were posted at same place," sources added.
However, sources disclosed to Early Times that there are several other government employees, who are at lower ranks and relatives of Waheed Para, whom Para has adjusted of their own choices within Pulwama district on prime postings, who are now enjoying the full political patronage.
