JU VC's plea for 5-year tenure and HRA rejected | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 30: In a significant development, the Governor House has made it clear that tenure of Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof RD Sharma is not five years but only three years. Besides, in another big snub to the self styled honest Vice-Chancellors, the Governor's House has rejected Prof RD Sharma’s application for sanction of House Rent Allowance in his favour by citing that he was not eligible for the same. According to the highly placed sources, the reply of Governor House on both the issues was recently conveyed to the Jammu University, which had formally submitted the plea of Vice-Chancellor Prof RD Sharma for five-year tenure as well as HRA in his favour. The query by Jammu University over five-year tenure of the Vice-Chancellor was made in the wake of Government decision of extending the term of PSC members, State university Vice-Chancellors and others. Governor's big no to RD Sharma for five-year tenure is believed to have been conveyed in view of extremely poor performance of the incumbent Vice-Chancellor as well as brewing resentment against him among students as well as the teachers. Further, sources said, the Governor House has rejected RD Sharma's plea that he was entitled for the HRA since he was staying in his own house and not using the official bungalow of the Vice-Chancellor. While rejecting the plea, the Governor House has clarified that the Vice-Chancellor's bungalow in the university was exclusively for the incumbent and RD Sharma could stay there till his tenure on the chair but he could not claim HRA in any case. The Governor House replies on these two issues are being viewed as big rebuff to Prof RD Sharma, who is proving to be a complete failure as the Vice-Chancellor thus damaging the reputation of Jammu University. |
