Has Farooq Abdullah got mandate to speak for Jammu, Ladakh? | Down with autonomy demand | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 30: President of the defeated and out-on-the-limb NC Farooq Abdullah has unleashed a no-holds-barred propaganda blitz to strike a chord with the Kashmiri Muslims and snatch the political space of the PDP. The Central theme of his campaign is that autonomy to this part and autonomy to the other part of the State is the only solution and he has reiterated his highly perverted solution again and again during the past few days. He reiterated his sinister demand yet again on Tuesday. Pitching for opening of all trade and travel routes along the Line of Control, the out-of-job Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday reiterated that "granting autonomy across the LoC would resolve the Kashmir problem." "For me the solution is quite simple; this part of Kashmir will continue to be part of India and that part of Kashmir will remain with Pakistan. The LoC should be opened for free trade and travel and both the parts of Kashmir should be grated autonomy. That is the solution," Abdullah reiterated while addressing party workers at Srinagar. Who has given him the mandate to speak for the people of Jammu, Ladakh and even of Kashmir, who only in 2014 inflicted a humiliating defeat on him and elected the PDP's Tariq Hamid Karra with a huge margin? He can't poke his nose in the sensitive matters in a communally State, which also consists of three disparate regions of Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir. Has he forgotten what the people of Jammu did to him and other Kashmiri leaders at the Jammu Airport in 2008? Has he forgotten the route that he took to reach Jammu Raj Bhawan? And has he forgotten the defeats the NC had been suffering in Jammu province since 2002? He should remember that those two NC candidates who won from Nagrota and Bishnah in 2014 didn't win because they were popular; they won only by default and the mistakes committed by the BJP. Jammu and Ladakh never appreciated the NC and its ideology. Nor did Jammu and Ladakh ever appreciate those demanding self-rule. They stood for, fought for and made supreme sacrifices for their closer relations with New Delhi than ever before and they are doing the same even today with commitment and passionately. They never deviated from their path in the past and they will not deviate from the path in the future too. This is the hard reality and the sooner Farooq Abdullah, or for that matter all Kashmiri leaders, recognize, the better for them. Even otherwise, defeated NC cannot achieve its goal considering the fact that the people of India are against the idea of granting any political concession to J&K believing that the grant of more political concessions to the Kashmiri leaders would be only endanger national unity and the minorities, who constitute almost 40 per cent of the State's population and occupy bulk of the State's land area. |
