Ahead of Govt formation, PDP-BJP youth leaders throw lavish parties | | | Hyder Ali Early Times Report srinagar, Mar 30: Ahead of the Government formation, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) youth leaders have started throwing lavish parties at five-star hotels here to celebrate continuation of the alliance. At a time when the cash-starved State looks ahead for austerity even in the scheduled oath-taking, the leaders of the two parties enjoy bash at some of the costliest hotels in the summer capital where even a cup of coffee with snacks costs around Rs 10,000. The other day, prominent youth leaders including BJP spokesman Sheikh Khalid Jehangir and PDP leader Waheed-Ur-Rehman Parra were seen celebrating at Taj Vivanta the decision of the twin parties to continue the alliance. Sources said the party was thrown to celebrate the March 26 meeting of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and BJP's Dr Nirmal Singh with Governor NN Vohra when the two parties staked claim for Government formation. At Taj Vivanta, apart from Jehangir and Parra, PDP MLC Yasir Reshi and two other politicians were also present. Sources said the merry-making lasted till late in the evening. The youth leaders, who were seen hugging and taking selfies, complimented each other for having achieved the feat of ending deadlock. The youth group is understood to have reiterated its resolve of working in coordination for smooth functioning of the Government vis-a-vis achievement of milestones. "We need to be like brothers, only then this coalition will have a cakewalk, and we will be able to achieve our goals," the insiders quoted the group of having resolved. Sources said the two groups discussed the upcoming municipal elections and that "the youth leaders would have to play to crucial role in making it a success." The two looked ahead to work in symphony. The youth leaders are understood to have discussed the twists and turns in the three-month stalemate only to end up partying at the fashionable hotel. |
