NFSA leaves Udhampur residents high & dry

Udhampur, Mar 30: Hundreds of genuine beneficiaries under NFSA are suffering untold miseries due to irregularities in implementation of the food security scheme in Udhampur district. People allege that without doing verification of the income majority of ration card holder have been placed in excess group and denied ration by dealers. People alleged that shortcomings in its implementation has deprive a large population of the district of existing rations.
Jagdish Sodhi of T morh alleged that he had applied for ration cards about under NFSA and for it has filled declaration form showing his monthly income as 8000 per month but when he approached ration dealer for ration today he refused to give ration saying that he will not get ration even non priority group as he is shown in excess income group . He alleged that those who are gazetted employ and having lakhs of turn out business have been shown in non priority group but deserving having low income have been excluded from it and being denied ration .
Majority of consumers who were denied ration by dealers today approached Tehsil Supply Officer and complained regarding the discrepancies in implementation of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in Udhampur and demanded inclusion of their name in priority and non priority group and Majority of consumers whose name was excluded in beneficiaries under NAFSA categories alleged that none of the officials even Patwari visited their villages for an inquiry regarding income so far.
They alleged that NFSA has deprived a large portion of the population from its ambit. There is a need to streamline the list of beneficiaries
Sheela Devi alleged that there are huge discrepancies in the ration cards being prepared in Udhampur under NAFSA scheme and names of card holders have been dropped or included without adopting any guidelines by NFSA ACT . She added that no parameters has been adopted and people are confused which income slab has been taken as parameter to included people in priority or non priority group. However TSO said that they are getting application for correction in data and after verification those whose acse will be found genuine will be included in beneficiaries list.
When contacted AD, Capd regarding the matter he said that they are trying their best to minimising the errors and any person having any query or problem related to his card or should contact the department.
