Udh Police presents supplementary challan, books fraudsters

Jammu, Mar 30: In response to the directions from Special Mobile Magistrate Udhampur, the Police today presented supplementary challan in a fraud case registered against duo of father and daughter allegedly for duping the complainant of Rs 600000/- besides cheating social welfare department in fraudulent manner.
"As per the details of the case petitioner Rameshwar Sharma s/o Late Sham Lal Sharma of Paloura Jammu has lodged a complaint on 18 August 2011, therein alleging that accused Prem Nath s/o Kamlu r/o Rathian Udhampur (LIC Agent of Udhampur Branch) and his daughter Nishu Rani Attri ( BAMS student) are big cheat and have duped Social Welfare Deptt by withdrawing student scholarship fraudulently for which they were not entitled for," spokesperson said.
Spokesperson said that however Udhampur police has produced challan against the accused after its investigations but applicant showed his un-satisfaction over the contents of the challan as many evidences are not enclosed with the challan by the concerned I/O PSI Purab Singh.
"And thus applicant challenged the challan and court directed the police to reinvestigate the matter. Dy SP Udhampur (DAR) Ajay Singh Jamwal was made I/O to reinvestigate the matter and police thoroughly re-investigated the matter and found many discrepancies in the challan .
Accordingly Police booked both the accused under FIR 331/2012 u/s 420, 467, 468, 403, 181 ,471 and 34/ RPC and presented supplementary challan.
Police said that both the accused who are supposed to be father and daughter with a criminal intention produces fake affidavits before the office of tehsildar Udhampur showing their monthly income as Rs. 5000 only for their personal benefits and fraudulently withdrew a scholarship of the amount Rs 80,800 from the office of Social Welfare Deptt Jammu.
"During the investigation it was also found that accused have also cheated the complainant of Rs 60,000/- , spokesperson said, adding, "police produced supplementary challan before the court and court has transferred the case to Session court Udhampur for Trial. The next date of hearing has been fixed on April 7.
