Raising 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' no proof of patriotism: Athar Aamir | | | Saahil Suhail Early Times Report Anantnag, May 13: Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan, who secured second place in the prestigious 2015 IAS examination, says that country men need not chant 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' to prove that they were patriots. "There is no need to say 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' as we are all true patriots" he opined during an exclusive interview with ET. On NIT Srinagar issue, Athar says that students should be provided positive atmosphere for personal development. "As a society and country we should ensure that we have a good environment conducive for personality development and education in colleges and universities," he said. Hailing from Devipora-Mattan, 22 years old, Athar Aamir says that Jammu and Kashmir has gone through a difficult phase in past whose aftershocks are still haunting but according to him the major problem Jammu and Kashmir faces that it hasn't yet realized the potential of its natural resources. "Problems are numerous ; we know that J&K has gone through very tough times in the past, and the aftershocks of that are still haunting us," he said, adding biggest problem is to prepare for the potential that our natural and human resources have. Ather terms nurturing of youth, another big problem the state currently faces. "Another big problem we currently have is guiding the youth. We have young population just like the rest of the country but probably we haven't been able to give the best kind of skills and education," he said "Governance deficit is another problem," he said, however added that things are moving in positive direction. On being asked, how he will deal with Handwara like situation where youth resorted to stone pelting and sloganeering, Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan suggested active engagement of youth through dialogue. "Engage and dialogue are keys to deal with such situations. We need to engage with young population, we need to guide them. How they can be positive contributors. People should be positively and actively engaged and should be stake holders in peace and development," he added. Athar Aamir-ul-Shafi Khan of Devipora village in Mattan joined IIT Roorkee and completed his Engineering from IIT Himachal Pradesh in July 2014. He has cracked all professional entrance examinations in 2009-10 and became the youngest boy from valley at 22, to qualify the exam. He had qualified CET in Kashmir and even joined Government Medical College Jammu but pursued his 'IIT dream'. Ather is among the eight from Jammu and Kashmir selected in the prestigious Indian Administrative Service. Besides Athar, Sheema Nabi Qasba (209), Baseer-Ul-Haq, Ruveda Salam, Afaq Giri, Deeba Farhat, Choudhary Yaseen and Ankit Koul also cracked the prestigious 2015 IAS examination. |
