RAJOURI, May 13: An attendant of a patient was allegedly beaten by a doctor, who at present is posted at district hospital, Rajouri, in a chemist shop here today. Mushtaq Ahmad of Kundardaan, Reasi, brought his ailing wife to the district hospital here for medical check. The doctor, who examined her, diagnosed her with tuberculosis and prescribed her medicines. Police sources said after purchasing medicines from a chemist shop, he took his wife to another doctor, who runs a private clinic nearby, for second opinion. "This doctor examined the lady and then asked her husband to return the medicines to the chemist, saying these were not required," the sources added. Sources said when he reached the chemist shop, the first doctor was also present there. When he asked the chemist to take the medicines back while giving him the reason for it, the doctor allegedly beaten him up and also abused him, sources informed. After this incident, the man staged a protest out side district hospital complex against the doctor. He was soon joined by locals, including PDP activist Manzoor Shah. The protesters dispersed peacefully following an assurance from ADC, Rajouri, Mumtaz Choudhary and DSP Hamid Choudhary that a probe would be initiated into the incident. |
