Ministers' love for Kashmir leaves Jammu in crisis | | | Raj Sandeep Early Times Report Jammu, May 13: A senior ministers looks more worried for Valley, ignoring the Jammu people who have to face the brunt of power and water crisis. The ministers representing Jammu division are focusing on the problems of Kashmir, putting hard work to prove their credentials. Gone are the days when BJP would stand shoulder to shoulder with people of Jammu. MeenakshiDuggal of Shakti Nagar Jammu narrated the woes of water supply totally snapped in some area of Shakti Nagar area since last over one month forcing them to fetch water from local tube well hiring the services of labourers and load carriers. She said their condition has become more worst than those living in Kandi areas with PHE Department unmoved to tide over the crisis. Similar is the position of Janipur area where people are facing acute water shortage with Rajesh Kumar living there assailed the Department for its failure to prepare itself to tackle the crisis in a time bound strategy which, he said, should have been made in anticipation of impending water shortage which as usual emerges during summer in Jammu ,but in vain. He is a low paid employee and cannot afford to hire water from open market through tankers for which he has allegedly spent considerable amount to arrange drinking water, further told, adding that other families are similarity suffering badly due to water crisis with ongoing strike of employees of PHE deepening the crisis. The sources told that 70% staff of PHE which is temporary or casual has proceeded on strike for the last about two months and the general public has been left in the lurch in entire Jammu division during these hot summer days with Kandi areas of Jammu and Kathua are the worst hit with many families feeling compelled to lock their houses and migrate to nearby states temporarily as the concerned Department is still in slumber and unable to provide uninterrupted water supply to its citizens which is an annual nuisance very well known to all created every year by inefficient handling of the crisis with PHE knowing well that the cry of Jammu people will be a cry in wilderness having no political back up, they further said adding that only hope of Jammu to raise their problems before the Ministers in Summer Secretariat also stands defused with its closure once for all and now where to go for getting the grievances redressed is the question pestering the public as Department of PHE does not bother much having become immune to listening complaints of power and water crisis, they rued. While talking to Early Times correspondent, the people of Krishna Nagar, Patree, Ban, Nandpur Sujatpur of R.S.Pura, who are up in arms against the delaying tactics of PDD to upgrade the Power station Darsopur, Miran Sahib and utter their failure to resort to some alternative for regular power supply in the area with people having sleepless nights due to Bejli aayee aur Bejli gayee chanting throughout night with small children and students being the first casualty of power crisis even as many other areas of Jammu are the victim of power crisis as well. Under the circumstances afflicting the public of acute water and power crisis, Kuldip Singh Chib of Nagrota flayed the government, saying that as appeared in a section of print media, the Minister is killing two birds with one stone by touring Srinagar city to take stock of some projects in Srinagar and enjoying the cool breezes of pleasant weather in Kashmir, further said , castigating that for our Minister, the projects of Urban Development sector ,parking facility at Press Colony and inspection of sewerage treatment plant are finding mention in his list as top priority forgetting the summer water and power crisis of Jammu to which he had also been once sufferer like many in Jammu as a common citizen when out of power. He further said that since the Minister is holding the portfolio of Power Development Department, he should fully concentrate on his Department and manage the power crisis of the State, especially of Jammu Division being the hot belt presently victim of the apathetic attitude the government with its allied partner BJP and its local MLAs totally forgetting the issue of water and power crisis in Jammu which ought to be their priority number one to attend for bring succors to people. |
