Jammu, June 8: NSS Wing of Government Polytechnic, Bikam Chowk, Jammu today organized environmental conservation week to celebrate the world environment day and world ocean day. The program was organized to spread awareness among the student about the Greener and Cleaner Environment and the detrimental effects of Deforestation. College Principle, Er. Ritu Jamwal planted a sapling as part of plantation drive and emphasized the need of planting trees to minimize the increasing effect of global warming. The program was organized under the guidance of NSS Co-coordinator Er. Khalid Sheikh who applauded the effect being undertaken by NSS Volunteers by coming forward with the noble idea of "Plant Trees- Save Nature- Save Earth". More than 100 saplings of various varieties were planted by the students and staff of the institute in the college campus. Meanwhile, a debate competition also held on the topic of 'my role in environmental conservation'. First prize was bagged by Dawar Hussain (Comp. Dept.), Second prize was won by Mahima Sharma (Civil Dept.) and third prize was won by Jagbir Pal (Mech. Dept.). |
