Security audit committee recommends regular reviews of vital security installations across J&K | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Srinagar, June 8: The Security audit committee constituted by Government of India for conducting audit of vital security installations has recommended regular internal reviews of various vital security installations across J&K. Soon after militant attack on Pathankot Air Force Station this year, The BJP government had constituted a committee under the chairmanship of former Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Philip Campose for security audit of Jammu and Kashmir's vital security installations. Defense sources informed Early Times that the committee in its report that has already been submitted to Defence Ministry New Delhi, has suggested various measures to strengthen security of various military establishments across the country, especially in Jammu and Kashmir. Sources though maintained that the steps suggested by the panel are highly confidential and are discussed at higher level, but said that the important observations and recommendations of the panel constituted by the government are progressively implemented to maintain a robust and strong response mechanism to emerging threats. Sources said that the panel has stressed on the officers at the Army units and headquarters, to ensure the regular internal security audit, to plug the shortcomings, if any. Sources said that security audit of all the vital establishments by the Panel was conducted in the March this year and the report was also submitted to the Defence ministry in the last week of the March. "The major stress has been laid for safeguarding all important military establishments in Kashmir and the stress has also been laid on following of SOP in letter and spirit with regard to the various vital security installations," sources informed. Sources also said that the panel, headed by Lt Gen Campose has also suggested volley of measures to deal with any sort of challenge and to ensure all operations are conducted smoothly. The Government of India constituted a high-level panel, soon after the Pathonkot Pathankot attack on Air Force Station on January 2 this year that claimed the lives of six soldiers. |
