NGO demands creation of Amarnath Yatra base camp | | | Early times report
Udhampur June 08: Non Governmental Organization (NGO) Lok Vikas Dal today raised demand for creating another base camp for Shri Amar Nath Yatra in Udhampur for the smooth conduct of Yatra and to boost the local business falling enroute to yatra from Pathankot to Udhampur via Dhar road. Addressing a press conference here Vikram Singh Slathia president Lok Vikas Dal demanded from the state government to make Udhampur town as a co-base camp for Amarnath Yatra which is long pending demand of local populace as many people prefer to come through Pathankot to Udhampur via Dhar road. "The proposed co base camp will not only help government in conducting annual yatra smoothly by decongesting only base camp in Jammu but also boost local economy. "Udhampur being central place is an ideal place for co-base camp as it can accommodate pilgrim during bad weather condition also, he added. Slathia demanded that yatris should be allowed from alternative route for yatra from Pathankot via Ranjit Sagar Dam , Kathua via Dhar road towards Udhampur and also demanded increase in rail services during annual yatra period upto Udhampur by pressing special trains on route to meet the heavy rush of yatris . Among others present in this media conference included Pawan Rigra, Gourav Mahajan, Nariender Baria, Ashok Dogra, Ram Kishoar and Baraf Singh . |
