RDD Minister assures distribution of Solar Lights in 15 days | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 8: Minister for Rural Development Department Abdul Haq Khan today said that the distribution of pending Solar Lights in Kishtwar District will be completed in next 15 days. While raising the issue in the Legislative Council during zero hour, MLC Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo said 12500 Solar Lights worth over 22 crore were purchased by the previous government for distribution among the beneficiaries of Kishtwar District added that despite re-verification of the list several times, large number of Solars are yet to be distributed among the beneficiaries that has caused law and order problems. He said that due to delay in distribution of these Solar Lights, the life of the battery is losing its durability and said that people even made an attempt to rob these solar lights. Reacting to the concern showed by the MLC Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, Deputy Chairman Jahangir Ahmed Mir directed the government to distribute the Solar Lights within 10 days. As soon as the Deputy Chairman issued directions to the government, PDP MLC objected it with the plea that the list of the beneficiaries for Solar Lights is politically motivated to which Deputy Chairman objected and did not allow the PDP MLC to speak over the issue. Deputy Chairman clarified that the list has been prepared by the Sarpanchs and authenticated by the Deputy Commissioner and hence no question arises and directed the government to go ahead with distribution of the Solar Lights; on which RDD Minister assured the house that the distribution of the pending solar lights will be completed within next 15 days. |
