CAPD Minister clarified on less Sugar Quota for Kashmir as compared to Jammu | | | Early Times Report
srinagar, Jun 8: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD), Chaudhary Zulfkar Ali today clarified on the media reports published in Kashmir based daily newspaper wherein it was stated that against 5000 quintal of Sugar being distributed in Jammu province compared to Kashmr province wherein media reports claim that only 66 Quintal Sugar is being distributed among the people. As soon as the CAPD Minister arrived in the house during question hour, stood up and clarified that his statement issued by him yesterday on the issue of availability of Sugar in the state added that his statement has been misquoted and said that against 6600 quintals of sugar which is available in Kashmir valley, media reports mentioned it as only 66 quintal which according to CAPD minister was wrong. He said that 5000 quintals of sugar is available in Jammu division and is being distributed in the areas where it is available. The Minister said that for procurement of fresh stocks of sugar, tenders and other formalities were competed and it is expected that the sugar would be available for distribution at all sale outlets within couple of days. As CAPD minister was making his clarification, National Conference legislator Ali Mohammad Sagar confronted him added that he (Zulfikar) indeed mentioned about availability of 66 quintal Sugar for Kashmir as compared to 5000 quintal for Jammu, the CAPD minister again clarified and said that his statement has been misquoted. On the question of equal distribution of sugar, the Minister said that back transportation is not allowed and assured the agitating MLAs that in next week the Sugar in all District of the State will be provided to the people. Revenue Minister Basharat Bukhari also comes to the rescue of the CAPD Minister to defuse the situation. |
