samba, Jun 8: At least four Army personnel were killed when an army truck they were travelling in skidded off and rolled down from a bridge on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. "An Army truck this evening on way from Pathankot to Jammu skidded off when the driver lost its control and it fell the bridge near village Jatwal," police sources here said. Sources said, "The tragic mishap took place when an Army truck, around 6 pm, on way to Akhnoor from Amritsar turned turtle near Jatwal area of Samba." "Four Army jawans were killed on the spot while eight others sustained injuries, police spokesperson from Samba said, adding, "an Army truck carrying 12 Jawans on way to Akhnoor from Amritsar went out of control when the driver tried to save a stray cow on National highway in Jatwal area of Samba and lost control on the vehicle." After receiving the information police and Army teams rushed the spot and started rescue operation and evacuated the injured top nearby hospital. "Four jawans were declare as brought dead by doctors in Military Hospital Samba while injured Jawans were hospitalized and their condition is stated to be stable, police said. The identity of deceased and injured persons could not be ascertained so far. However, the police has registered a case in this regard. More details are awaited, police said.
