Jammu, Jun 8: In a petition filed by the inhabitants of Barjala and Khandwal, seeking a direction for the release of Rs 793 lakh and place it at the disposal of chief engineer (CE), I&FC department, Jammu, for the restoration of infrastructure damaged by flash floods in Nikki Tawi last year and this year, high court judge Tashi Rabstan today directed the administrative secretaries of departments of I&FC, planning and development and finance to file action taken report (ATR) on the CE's communication to his secretary. The I&FC CE had on March 17, 2016 sent communication No IFCJ/ P&S/PM Package/42-IV/27104-08 to the I&FC secretary. After hearing the petitioners' counsels, Justice Rabstan issued notices to the I&FC secretary, planning and development department secretary, finance secretary and I&FC' CE, superintending engineer and executive engineer. Justice Rabstan also directed the three administrative secretaries to file ATR on the communication of I&FC CE, who had made a request for the release of Rs 793 lakh for taking up protection works in the flood affected areas of Nikki Tawi, including Barjala and Khandwal.
