CEO reviews Anantnag bye-election preparedness

ANANTNAG, JUNE 8: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) J&K, Shantmanu held a meeting of officers to review the preparedness of various departments regarding the upcoming bye-elections in the Anantnag Assembly constituency.
The meeting was attended by District Election Officer, Deputy CEO, ADDC Anantnag, SSP Anantnag, ADC, Returning Officer, Assembly Constituency Ananatnag, Nodal Officers , AEROs etc.
On the occasion, the District Election Officer presented a detailed review of the preparations made by the district administration with police and other departments for the upcoming bye-elections besides action taken on the decisions taken in earlier meetings. He informed the meeting that 102 polling stations would be setup at 61 designated locations across the constituency. He said that 15 polling stations have been proposed to be developed into model polling stations, which would have extra facilities besides, adequate arrangements for migrant voters have also been put in place.
The CEO was informed that initial training to 2017 employees has already been imparted, while services of only 408 would be required for election days, besides adequate number of EVMs have already been put in order.
Regarding the implementation of Model Code of Conduct by the political parties, the CEO directed concerned Nodal Officer to meet all the political parties involved in the bye-election and sensitize them about various aspects of MCC and its compliance by them.
He directed Nodal Officer SVEEP to conduct awareness camps on regular basis to inform people about voting and voting rights.
Regarding the security arrangements, SSP Security was directed to ensure adequate security during the polling days, especially to the contesting candidates. The CEO was informed that vulnerability map of the area has already been prepared and adequate security arrangements would be put in place according to the map. The CEO also laid emphasis on webcasting of 10 polling stations on priority basis.
